British Air Strike Begins

Monday, May 24, 2010 5:18:00 AM

As expected, the British Air cabin crew has begun a series of walkouts scheduled to take place between now and and June 9th. During this period, British Air will be cancelling about 50-60% of its flight into and out of London's Heathrow Airport. (Most flights to and from the USA use Heathrow Airport.) Flights to London's other airports -- Gatwick and City -- will not be affected.

British Air has confirmed its schedule of which flights will operate through May 29th. It plans to release the schedule for travel through June 9th shortly.

If you are booked to travel during the strike period, in most cases, British is waiving their change fees and will allow you to reschedule for no fee. If your flight is actually canceled, then you can also request a full refund instead of rebooking.

The British Airways web site has a page dedicated to providing the latest information as it becomes available. Alternatively, if you have questions or would like to cancel or rebook a British Airways flight, please contact your Amtrav travel counselor.
