Continental to Charge for Extra Leg Room

Continental has announced that they will begin charging passengers for economy seats that have extra legroom, such as exit-row and bulkhead seats. This will begin on March 17th.

Travelers will have the option of purchasing these seats at check-in, either online or at an airport kiosk, beginning 24 hours prior to departure. According to Continental, pricing for the seats will vary depending on the length of the flight and "other factors".

Elite frequent flyer members will be exempt from the new fee; they will still be able to reserve these seats for no additional charge.
