A Gift from Google: Free Airport WiFi
While the airlines continue to think of new ways to charge us for things that used to be free, Google, in a refreshing change, is footing the bill for everyone's internet access at 47 airports across the country. The "gift", as the search engine is calling it, will last through the end of 2009.
Upon signing in, users will be asked if they want to set Google as their homepage or try the Google Chrome browser. But no matter what the user chooses, the internet session will be fully paid for by Google and the airports' usual payment form will not appear.
According to a Google spokesperson, with travelers likely to spend more time on the ground in busy airports during the holidays, now seems an especially fitting time to offer up this perk.
