Once you check in, your ticket is locked and Trip Changer won’t work — undo your check-in on the airline’s site/app (or call AmTrav Support) to make changes.
The problem
If you try to change a ticket through the AmTrav platform and you see this error:
“You have checked in for one or more of your flights. We are unable to change a ticket that has one or more flights in a checked-in status. Please contact our support team for assistance.”
It’s because, according to the airline, you have already checked in for your flight. Once you check in, the ticket becomes under airport control, essentially frozen until you get on the plane and take the flight you checked in for. Even future flights in your itinerary are locked if you have a close-in flight in a checked in status.
The good news is, if you’ve changed your mind and don’t want the flight you checked in for, you can cancel your check-in and unlock your ticket and then use our self-service Trip Changer tool. Unfortunately, though, airlines don’t let us do that for you; it has to be done by contacting them directly.
How to "Un-Check" Yourself
To reverse your checked in status, you’ll need to go through the airline’s website or app. Here’s how it works for a few of the most popular airlines for AmTrav customers:
American Airlines
- Go to “Manage Trips/Check-in” on aa.com or the AA app.
- If available, you’ll see an “Undo Check-In” option. Select it, and your check-in status will clear.
- If the option doesn’t appear, you’ll need to contact American Airlines Reservations 800-433-7300 to have an agent clear it for you.
- Log into “My Trips” on united.com or the United app.
- Look for “Undo Check-In” (sometimes shown as “Cancel Check-In”).
- If you don’t see the option, call United 1-800-864-8331 to have the status reset.
- Go to “Manage Trip” on southwest.com or the Southwest app.
- Most of the time you’ll see an “Un-check” or “Undo Check-In” button. Select it to free up your ticket.
- Delta does not offer a self-service “un-check.”
- You’ll need to call Delta Reservations 800-221-1212 or ask a Delta agent at the airport to clear your check-in.
